I am a PhD candidate in Economics at the University of Southern California. My research interests span environmental, development, and urban economics. I study the economic and environmental challenges of cities and regions around the world.
Before starting my PhD, I worked at the Inter-American Development Bank and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT-CGIAR). I hold a master’s degree from the Paris School of Economics and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and a BA from Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia.
I am on the job market for the 2026–2027 cycle. My job market paper, Long-Term Effects of Slum Upgrading on Climate Resilience and Urban Growth, studies how a large slum upgrading program in Medellín, Colombia, affected disaster exposure and urban growth in upgraded neighborhoods over three decades. I combine this evidence with a spatial model to assess the program’s effects on welfare across the city.
